Joe & Jagmeet on PALESTINE

This week Joe signed on to the ‘Vote Palestine’ pledge — his solid commitment to oppose the ethnic cleansing and genocide which continues in Gaza and the West Bank.
“It’s intolerable,” Joe says, “What’s being done to Palestinians is just plain wrong … and Canada should not be complicit in any way.”

The key piece of the pledge — designed by a non-partisan coalition of concerned groups — are:

  1. Impose a two-way arms embargo on Israel
  2. End Canadian involvement in illegal Israeli settlements
  3. Address anti-Palestinian racism and protect freedom of expression on Palestine
  4. Recognize the State of Palestine
  5. Protect and Fund Gaza Relief Efforts, including UNRWA.

Jagmeet and the NDP support all of these demands and have indeed led the call for these in Parliament over the past several years. New Democrats also support sanctions on Israeli PM Netanyahu and his cabinet members who have enabled the genocide. The party also supports the investigations by the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court into war crimes and genocide.

And Joe and Jagmeet would add that New Democrats want the safe return of all hostages… indeed, peace and justice for everyone, Palestinian and Israeli.
